A DORSET rescue service has released a video in which Zoë Wanamaker CBE teaches children about the importance of staying safe around water.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service produced the video as part of their ‘safety stories’ campaign.
The award-winning actress reads ‘Safe by the River’, a tale about a family trip to the river, which quickly escalates when a woman ends up in the water having tried to rescue her dog.
The story depicts a lot of useful advice for young people around water.
The video explains that people should never go into the water to rescue someone and should instead look for a lifebuoy and call 999, whilst the person in the water does a star float.
