A LYME REGIS based festival will be taking place online this year.

The annual B Sharp Busking Festival will be taking place virtually this Saturday July 4, the public can follow the proceedings through streams on social media channels.

The festival will feature a number of unique musical performances and workshops from music leaders and local bands, along with B Sharp students.

This year’s festival was originally planned to go ahead as normal on the same date before plans were changed due to the coronavirus crisis. The festival has been described by organisers as a musical takeover of Lyme Regis.

The event has provided a platform for both solo artists and those in bands, inviting attendees to bring their own equipment whilst also allowing them to use their play-me-piano or play-me-drums.

B Sharp is a small local charity based in Lyme Regis. It supports young people to develop their musical and personal skills, aiming to develop their confidence through performing and sharing their music with the local community. B Sharp has over 12 years of experience in delivering workshops, training and performances in the area.

This year’s B Sharp Busking Festival will feature interactive music workshops for all ages in the morning, followed by videos showcasing talented local musicians throughout the afternoon and early evening.

Video footage of the event will be streamed from the B Sharp Facebook event page, @BSharpMusic, and YouTube channel, B Sharp Videos.

Ruth Cohen, director of B Sharp said: “I'm excited to see what's in store during our busking festival this year which is online for the first time.

“These have been challenging times for young people, and it is heart-warming to be able to continue our celebration of young musical talent and to showcase young people’s performance despite the lockdown. It is amazing to see how much effort has gone into adapting and learning new skills to bring us all so much music.“

B Sharp relies on donations to continue its valuable work. If you would like to support the charity, or for more information, visit www.localgiving.org/charity/bsharp.
