PEOPLE are being warned that Weymouth's resident seal is getting 'amorous' with swimmers.

Coastguards have had several reports of Sammy possibly seeking a mate in the waters off Weymouth.

A spokesman for Wyke Regis Coastguard Rescue Team said: "I have heard several reports that Sammy the seal is becoming, how shall I put it,....amorous.

"Now, I'm not sure of the mating ritual of a seal and I certainly don't want to find out either, clad in rubber or otherwise.

"Several of you by the sounds of things have almost had the pleasure.

"In the interest of Sammy and safety, may I suggest getting out if Sammy pesters you."

Coastguards are warning people not to get in the sea near Sammy.
