Emergency services received multiple 999 calls after a group of 15 swimmers got into difficulty at Durdle Door.

Coastguard and lifeboat crews rushed to the scene shortly before midday yesterday after a number of reports.

Coastguard teams from Kimmeridge, Lulworth and Wyke, as well as lifeboats from Weymouth, attended the scene.

However, the swimmers managed to make it ashore at various points along the coast and everyone in the group of 15 was accounted for.

A HM Coastguard spokeswoman said: "HM Coastguard received multiple 999 calls just before midday reporting several swimmers in difficulty at Durdle Door and Stair Hole, Dorset.

"Kimmeridge, Lulworth and Wyke Coastguard rescue teams were sent along with two Weymouth RNLI lifeboats.

"The swimmers were part of a group of 15 that had set off from Stair Hole, during the swim some of the party had got into difficulties.

"All 15 swimmers have been accounted for after they self-rescued at various points along the coast."
