Coastguards were called to Weymouth after a man fell overboard and a woman broke her ankle.

The Wyke Regis Coastguard Rescue Team was called to help the ambulance service after a woman broke her ankle, about 400 metres west of Castle Cove Sailing Club in Weymouth.

They arrived on scene along with Portland Bill Coastguard Rescue Team and assessed the situation. The casualties injury was immobilised before she was placed on a stretcher. She was then taken to the awaiting ambulance.

While dealing with this incident, coastguards were asked to head to Castle Cove Sailing Club after a man was pulled from the water.

He had spent some 20 minutes in the sea after falling overboard whilst transferring to his tender. When coastguards arrived, the man was being seen over by ambulance paramedics, so they headed back to teh previous incident.

Teams were then stood down and enjoyed some ice cream from the lovely people at Sandsfoot Cafe.
