Residents have been warned after reports of increased drone activity in built up areas of north Dorset.
A spokesperson for Sherborne Neighbourhood Policing Team said there has been a rise in the use of drones in the area recently.
They added: "It is illegal to fly a drone or radio-controlled model aircraft without registering and passing a theory test administered by the Civil Aviation Authority.
"It is against the law to fly a drone or model aircraft without passing the theory test or registering. You can also be fined for breaking the law when flying. In the most serious cases, you could be sent to prison."
