DORSET Wildlife Trust is issuing free guides to those wishing to explore the Dorset coastline this summer.

This initiative is part of Marine week, an annual celebration of the sea which this year takes place between July 25 and August 9.

Members of the public can pick up their spotters’ guides from the Fine Foundation Chesil Beach Centre.

Wish the help of these guides, families and individuals can explore the shore, looking for birds, butterflies and marine wildlife.

The Chesil Beach centre and Taste* Café are also now open seven days a week from 10am to 4pm. There are safety measures in place to keep everyone safe at the centre, including social distancing, one-way systems and hand cleaning stations. People are also requested to wear face coverings at all times, except from when eating at the café.

The Do-It-Yourself Shore Life Spotter Guide is also available for download on the Dorset Wildlife Trust website.

Explorers are encouraged to record their findings and submit them to the wildlife trust, which will help scientists monitor the health of marine wildlife across the country.
