CARS will no longer be allowed to park along a road on Portland after concerns were raised about a bus route being blocked.

Dorset Council has has imposed an emergency temporary parking restriction on Hamm Beach Road, stopping cars from parking on the road between the Hamm Roundabout and the entrance to the sailing academy site.

This comes after concerns were raised about the new bus route to the Portland Lidl store being blocked by parked cars.

A Portland Town Council spokesperson said: "Cars parked along Hamm Beach Road have been blocking buses on the the new route past Lidl and the sailing academy so Dorset Council have approved emergency temporary parking restrictions on Hamm Beach Road."

The notice came into force on August 7 at 12pm and will remain in place until August 28 at 11.59am. The notice can be extended by a further 21 days.

Anyone in violation of the order can be fined up to £1,000.
