Members of the Keep Military Museum in Dorchester joined old comrades as they collected a new set of wheels.

A new minibus has been secured for the museum and for the Devon and Dorset Regimental Association.

They visited Abacus Vehicle Hire Company headquarters in Wimborne to collect it.

The 15-seater minibus will be shared between Regimental Headquarters in Exeter and the Dorchester museum, the former depot barracks for the old Dorsetshire Regiment.

The Commander of the Standards Party, Ken Chivers, said: “All of us in our Regimental Association and in our museum are very grateful for this kind gift, which will mean we can drive ourselves to various functions and on tours.

“We’re here on behalf of all our comrades, friends and colleagues to thank Abacus and David Wolfenden for their generosity.”

Abacus Manager David Wolfenden was there to present the bus to the representatives from the Keep Military Museum in Dorchester after they paraded with their Regimental Standards.

Curator of the Keep Museum Laura Jayne Gardner added: “This minibus will be a real asset for us all.

“One of our ambitions is to take the museum out more for people to see who we are and what we do.

“This wonderful 15-seater minibus will make that much easier. It opens all sorts of opportunities for us.”
