FIREFIGHTERS were forced to go back to basics to tackle a blaze in a hard-to-reach location on Portland.
One crew from the island's fire station made haste to Killick's Hill after being alerted to a fire in the open at around 10.36pm.
However, due to the fire being in an awkward spot, firefighters resorted to using buckets of water, rather than hose-reel jets, to extinguish the flames.
A spokesman for Portland Fire Station said: "Portland’s first away appliance was called to a fire in the open last night, due to the inconvenient location of the fire crews extinguished it using a bucket and a short length filled with water."
