AMBULANCE paramedics and coastguard teams were called after a young boy fell and hit his head while out on a family walk.

West Bay coastguard rescue team were called to help the ambulance service after a 13-year-old slipped on rocks at Seatown at about 2pm yesterday, sustaining a head injury.

The coastguard was called to provide additional assistance should a stretcher carry be required. On arrival, the ambulance crew and casualty were found to be at the far western end of the beach, under Golden Cap.

Due to the location and the potential of a very long stretcher carry, the Lyme Regis Coastguard team were also called to provide additional officers and equipment. The coastguard members then proceeded down the beach to meet the ambulance crew and casualty. In the end, a stretcher carry was not required and the casualty, family members and crew were all helped back to the ambulance at Seatown and taken to hospital.
