Emergency services are at the scene of a serious road traffic collision on Blandford Road near to Kingston Lacy in East Dorset.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "Road closures are being put in place and we are advising motorists to avoid the area.

"Thank you for your patience and understanding."

It is the second serious accident on Dorset's roads today.

Earlier, an air ambulance was scrambled to the scene of a 'serious crash'.

It joined police, fire and ambulance crews at the scene on the A354 near Thornicombe.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "We received a report at 4.30pm of a collision on the A354 near Thornicombe south of Blandford, believed to involve two vehicles.

"Officers are currently at the scene along with the fire service, ambulance service and an air ambulance is attending.

"Road closures have been put in place to allow the emergency services to deal with the incident. There is no update on any injuries at this time.
