A BOMB disposal team was called after a member of the public discovered an unexploded device yesterday.
A spokesman for Poole police said: "The military Explosive Ordnance Disposal team have attended to assist police at East Creech in Wareham.
"A small unexploded device had been located by a member of the public.
"If you heard a loud bang around 6.30am it was military personnel disposing of the item in a controlled manner."
Officers said anyone finding such a device should not move it but should contact police.
