The proposed allowance increase per Dorset councillor member is surprising given the economic difficulties.
Many people who are on low wages would like to get a 3.8% increase. The Dorset Council employees are only receiving 2.8%.
Weymouth Town Councillors receive a £1,000 allowance and voted this year not to increase this.
I hope Dorset Councillors do the right thing and vote for a 0% increase.
The cabinet posts are only available to Conservative councillors and creating assistant roles also for Conservative councillors is totally wrong.
If more support is needed then create proper support jobs amongst the council staff which would then not be political.
We sadly expect Tory cronyism from the current Government, let’s not do this at local council level.
