A man found dead at his home address died of a drugs overdose, an inquest has heard.

Luke Downton, aged 34, was found deceased at his home in Eddison Avenue, Dorchester, on June 15, Dorset Coroner's Court was told.

The hearing, presided over by Dorset Coroner Brendan Allen at Bournemouth Town Hall, was told the cause of death was an overdose of the anti-psychotic drug clozapine.

Giving evidence at yesterday's hearing, coroner's officer Ken McEwan said the police had been called to the home address of Mr Downton after concerns were raised by the local mental health team regarding his welfare.

Mr McEwan said: "Police attended his address and as they failed to raise any response, so they forced entry.

"Sadly they located Luke deceased within the property.

"Ambulance attended and confirmed the death."

Detectives from Dorset Police also attended and following investigations confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances.

The inquest was adjourned by Mr Allen until October.
