A MOTORIST continued to drive at up to 70mph despite damaging a tyre when he hit a kerb.
Police were called when the tyre eventually gave way as he hurried to an appointment.
A spokesman for the county's No Excuse Team said: "We were tasked to the A338 area after a report a vehicle had lost a wheel.
"On our arrival it was clear this Mercedes had an issue with it's front offside tyre.
"The driver then explained he had earlier hit a kerb but needed to get to Bournemouth so he continued at 60 - 70mph, before the tyre completely gave way.
"He also stated he heard a funny noise when he hit the kerb but thought it was still Ok to drive.
"Why wouldn't you stop and check?
"The vehicle was recovered at the driver's expense and we are still investigating the incident. We are glad no one was injured."
