A DRIVER tracked to his home address had failed to reapply for his licence after a drink driving ban.

Dorset Police's No Excuse Team was alerted by their Automatic Number Plate Recognition monitor.

A spokesman for the team said: "An Audi went by and our ANPR informed us it didn't have insurance.

"It also showed us the registered keeper had been warned about this two weeks ago by letter.

"We then located the Audi in a car park near to the registered keeper's home address.

"The driver/registered keeper was then surprised to see us knocking at his door.

"He answered immediately stating he'd just got home from Salisbury and he had a licence and insurance.

"A few checks later showed he didn't have either.

"He has never reapplied for his driving licence after a ban for drink driving years ago. We will always check, why lie?

"Elsewhere, on the A30 we recorded a Volvo and Vauxhall van at 90mph, with both drivers being issued Fixed Penalty Notices.

"Both drivers were appologetic, rushing to work and promised to slow down."
