THE M5 will be closed until tomorrow morning after a serious collision and vehicle fire.
The northbound M5 between junction 11 at Gloucester and junction 9 at Ashchurch closed earlier this morning and is expected to remain closed until early tomorrow.
The southbound carriageway is also closed and it is expected that at least one lane will be reopened shortly.
Highways England network operations manager, Beverley Mears, said: "We are working at the scene with emergency service partners.
"Due to extensive road surface damage which will require resurfacing the northbound carriageway is expected to remain closed until tomorrow morning so please bear this in mind when planning your journeys and consider alternative routes."
Diversions are in place.
