A 12-year-old boy suffered serious injuries when he was hit by a car.
It happened on Preston Road near Chalbury Corner in Weymouth this morning.
Police said the boy, from the local area, was riding his scooter when he was in collision with a Vauxhall Viva on Preston Road.
Four police cars and an ambulance were at the scene.
A Dorset Police spokesman said: "We were called at 7.41am on Wednesday to a report of a collision involving a car and a boy on a scooter on Preston Road in Weymouth.
"Officers attended, along with the ambulance service.
"The driver of the car was uninjured. The boy sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment."
South Western Ambulance said they received a call at 7.37am to Preston Road, Weymouth where there had been a collision between a child on a scooter and a car.
They said a male patient was treated and transported to hospital with a suspected head injury.
