A BODY discovered in the sea off Portland is believed to be that of a missing woman from Cornwall.

Emergency services were called to the scene, on the west side of Portland towards Southwell, at 10.41am on Tuesday.

Members of HM Coastguard were also in attendance.

Police in have now informed the family of a missing woman from Truro.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Formal identification is yet to take place, but the family of Julia Williams have been informed of the discovery.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner."

The car belonging to 24-year-old Julia Williams was discovered parked in Budleigh Salterton, east Devon, in the early hours of September 5, but she has not been found.
