POOLE Grammar School has become the seventh school in the conurbation to have a confirmed case of coronavirus since the start of the academic year.

Public Health Dorset issued a brief statement on Monday, September 21, which said the authority had been made aware of confirmed cases at the site in Gravel Hill.

The school has identified close contacts of those with coronavirus and they have been asked to self-isolate for 14 days, in line with national guidance.

The Covid-19 cases at Poole Grammar School follow reports on positive tests for members of the school communities at Pokesdown Community Primary, Queen's Park Academy, Kingsleigh Primary School and St Peter's School in Bournemouth and Twynham School and Mudeford Junior School in Christchurch.

The statement from Public Health Dorset said: "We are aware of confirmed cases of COVID-19 at Poole Grammar School.

"The school are working closely with Public Health Dorset, Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council and Public Health England South West to ensure that all necessary measures are being met.

"All close contacts of the confirmed cases have been notified and advised to self-isolate for 14 days.

"Contacts of the confirmed cases should get tested if they go on to develop symptoms. Even if people test negative, they must still self-isolate for 14 days."
