I am writing in support of Ron Coleman’s letter headed ‘Why remove the tracks? (Letters Wednesday 23 September).

Why is it necessary to remove the lines completely?

The idea of covering the lines to make them safe for road users seems a much better solution so leaving the lines available to be resurrected should a person with any foresight must understand.

Was this a decision made by the same source that neglected to maintain the harbour jetty leading to the loss of the Condor ferry services?

The removal of the lines is an expense when the money could be spent elsewhere.

Surely an insert could be designed that would satisfy the complainants.

It begs the question; Who will benefit from this urban vandalism and in what way?
