THE top ten most expensive streets to buy a house in Weymouth have been revealed.
New data has been released by property website Zoopla, which has compiled a 'Rich List' of the area.
The list looks at average selling prices of homes in the town and found that Weymouth’s most expensive street is Redcliff View, which offers stunning views over Newton's Cove.
On average, houses there sell for more than £600,000.
However the most expensive home currently on the market in Weymouth is a handsome eight-bedroom Italian-style villa at Church Street in Upwey for the princely asking price of £2,250,000.
The second most expensive home for sale, also at Church Street in Upwey, is a newly-built four bedroom home with a £1,700,000 price tag.
The third most expensive property currently up for sale in Weymouth is a seven-bedroomed manor house on Radipole Lane, listed at £1,600,000.
Gráinne Gilmore, head of research at Zoopla, explained that the area's stunning seaside location, along with its array of excellent local eateries and good schools, make it a desirable place to live - particularly as many office workers are now working from home and looking to relocate away from cities.
She said: “The Zoopla Rich List 2020 highlights the desirability of property in Weymouth, especially at the prime end of the market.
"The town’s coastal location, outstanding schools and fantastic shops, restaurants and bars mean that an address on one of its most expensive streets is worth more than £600,000.
"New working patterns, especially remote working, mean house hunters from all over the country are seeking bigger properties with outdoor space. Weymouth has a wide range of these types of properties, not least for those who can pay a premium for their next home.”
