A NEW system for recording incidents and near misses within Weymouth Harbour will be introduced.
There had been criticism of the current system during a safety audit last October which said there was a lack of a formal reporting system and no method for analysing incidents and learning from them.
It had been recommended to Dorset Council in November that an incident database be established ‘at the earliest opportunity’ and backdated to report and analyse the most serious or significant incident for at least the previous year.
This week’s harbours committee heard that due to unspecified 'other priorities' and staff absences the incident reporting system had only recently been reviewed and the retrospective report not yet completed.
The committee was told that the report should be ready for the harbours committee December meeting.
