A young man who had just bought a car was stopped by police after roaring round a bend at 77mph.
He was pulled over by Dorset Police's No Excuse Team who were out on the roads around Purbeck last night.
A spokesman for the team said: "A VW Polo young driver had only (half an hour previously) picked this car up from a friend in Swanage after buying it, when we recorded him at 77mph on a bend on the A351.
"He now states he might not be able to afford the insurance with three penalty points. Why risk it?"
On the same evening a young man said to be showing off to friends by overtaking other vehicles dangerously on his way to Portland was stopped.
A spokesman for the No Excuse team said: "On the A351 Sandford a young Ford driver was stopped after dangerously overtaking (showing off) to his mates in three other cars on their way to Portland to meet other friends.
"Trouble was local officers witnessed this so he was issued a section 59, three points and a fine. Another three points and he'll have his licence revoked."
