ZOMBIES will take over Weymouth's Nothe Fort when it is transformed into a live horror show as part of an 'immersive' Halloween event.

The Survival Zone event will see guests transported into the middle of a crisis, with Weymouth overwhelmed by the living dead.

Featuring actors and special effects, people will weave their way through the labyrinth of underground tunnels and passageways within Nothe Fort in a desperate bid to reach the impenetrable safety zone.

The event will be held between 5pm and 11pm on Saturday, October 24 until Saturday, October 31 and guests be able to book either the ‘Zombie Scare Package’ or The ‘VIP Ultimate Scare’.

Organisers say the entire experience has been designed with the current health guidelines in mind with a number of COVID-19 measures in place.

Performers and staff will wear face coverings while onsite and the masks have been integrated into the actors’ costumes.

Social distancing will be practised at all times and temperature checks will take place on arrival.

A ‘Covid Guarantee’ will be in place where full refunds will be available for any evening that has to be cancelled, but the booking fee is non-refundable.

The Halloween event has been organised by Dorset companies The Twins FX and Made to Measure Productions, with the assistance of award-winning Karl Ingham, who designed and built the largest scare experience in London.

Gary Hardy-Brown, managing director at The Twins FX said: "It's been very hard for us all over the last seven months.

“The Arts sector is in crisis; our company has been hibernating after 15 years of worldwide business - it has been heartbreaking.

“Coming into work is never boring or a chore because we genuinely love what we do, so bringing our team back from furlough has been great.

“It has given us hope and shown us that there is light at the end of the tunnel. We have been like a crack team of Zombies working on Survival Zone.

“We are a one-stop shop and we do everything ourselves: designing, creating/building and delivering the wow factor. We are going to scare the hell out of you!”

Lee Redwood, from Made to Measure Productions said: “Following our hugely successful outdoor production of Pirates of the Pavilion at Nothe Fort this summer, we are delighted to be returning to the venue with a very different production, working alongside the rest of the Survival Zone team to create a thrilling, chilling and spine-tingling scare experience this Halloween!”
