POLICE are appealing for information after a man was assaulted and had his mobile phone stolen after an argument broke out at a Dorset pub.

The 19 year-old victim was taken to hospital for treatment as a result of the attack, which happened at the White Hart pub on Cheap Street, Sherborne at around 11.20pm on Saturday.

Officers are now issuing a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to.

The victim – a 19-year-old local man – was with friends at the White Hart when he became involved in a verbal altercation with a man from another group.

As the victim left the pub he was assaulted by the man, who punched him several times.

He was taken to hospital and received treatment for swelling to his head and also sustained grazes to his shoulder and neck.

Later the victim realised his phone – a black iPhone 11 – had gone missing during the incident.

Police Constable James Curtis-Burchett, of Dorchester and Sherborne police, said: “We are continuing to make enquiries into this incident and have obtained a CCTV image of a man we would like to speak to as part of our investigation.

“I would urge anyone with information as to his identity to please contact us.”
