An application for an industrial unit at the Southwell Business Park to be used to break motorcycles into parts has been approved by Dorset Council.

The change of use application is for Unit 4 at the Network Enterprise Complex, South Way, on the estate.

It comes from Pirate Island Motor Cycle Parts for the 225 square metre unit.

The company say the unit is currently used for the salvaging of parts from already depolluted motorcycles with the firm also operating from the neighbouring unit from where they run an internet sales business.

The parts are currently sourced from auctions and private sales.  The proposed use will allow the company to purchase and break motorcycles on site, adding further flexibility to their business and could lead to at least an additional job being created, possibly more.

Only one or two motorcycles will be dealt with each day with working hours limited to 9am to 5pm Monday to Sunday, any waste fluid such as oil and coolants will be stored in double bunded containers before being disposed of by a licensed contractor.
