Weymouth inshore lifeboat was launched to go to the assistance of a windsurfer struggling and drifting in gale force winds in Portland Harbour.
The lifeboat launched at 11.40am on Sunday and was guided to the exact location of the windsurfer by Wyke Regis Coastguard CRT who had been observing the incident from the shore.
The boarder and his rig was recovered from the water some half a mile from Q Pier in Portland Port and taken to Castletown arriving at 12:12pm.
With the casualty safely ashore the lifeboat was released and returned to station at 12:30pm and was refuelled and made ready for the next shout.
