AN elderly woman has been lifted to safety and taken to hospital after falling and suffering a suspected broken ankle.
The Coastguard was called out at 1.54pm yesterday after a 79-year-old woman fell between Doghouse Hill and Ridge Cliff to the east of Seatown.
An ambulance crew arrived to help the woman but needed assistance from West Bay and Lyme Regis coastguards to get her off the cliff and to the waiting ambulance.
She was lifted into the West Bay Coastguard vehicle and taken down the cliff to Seatown where she was transferred into the waiting ambulance and taken to hospital.
A spokesman for West Bay Coastguard Rescue Team said: "We wish her a full and speedy recovery. Stay safe on the coast, but if you find yourself in difficulty or if you are concerned for others, do not hesitate. Dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
