Councillor Ray Bryan claims (Echo, October 18) that thousands of homes have to be built north of Dorchester so that people don’t have to travel to work.

The reality is that the decline in retail, increase in homeworking, loss of jobs to automation and A.I., plus the council’s own plans to base staff nearer their customers, will probably result in a significant reduction in jobs in the town.

If, however, Mr Bryan has some robust modelling that demonstrates that employment will grow, or at least stay the same, perhaps he could share it with us.
