MORE than 200 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Dorset over the last 24 hours, according to the latest figures.
Data released by the Government show 210 people tested positive in the county in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Wednesday (October 28).
In the Dorset Council area, 68 people have tested positive. The total number of coronavirus cases in the area since the beginning of the pandemic now stands at 1,850.
The rolling rate in the Dorset Council area stood at 110.7 per 100,000.
142 cases were reported in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council area. The total number of cases in the area is now 3,499.
The rolling rate of infections in the BCP Council area, in the seven days leading up to Friday (October 23), stood at 202.4 per 100,000 people.
Today's recorded cases are an increase of 70 after 140 positive tests of coronavirus were reported in Dorset on Tuesday (October 27).
Both areas remain in the medium risk Tier 1 category, amid a consistent rise in coronavirus cases.
A recent "significant increase" in coronavirus cases across the BCP Council area has been described as a "serious" situation by the local authority.
