It is not surprising that the free school meals argument is growing in its support from not just the public but also from the business community, of whom many are themselves struggling financially and yet are willing to dig deep into their own pockets to help out.
What is surprising is that the business community and indeed all of us tax payers are helping to feed the mouths of our MPs who choose to dine within the House of Commons.
Around £1.7 million was funded by the tax payer last year to subsidise the meals and drinks on the menus within the House if Commons.
Lord Tyler, the Liberal Democrat Peer, commented that the Parliament eateries are the best day care centres in London.
I wonder how many of the same MPs who eat at the House of Commons are not willing to support free school meals being provided during holidays?
