MISSING dinner parties? Residents now have the opportunity to attend a virtual party whilst raising money for refugees.

SEAFAIR arts organisation is putting on the 'Old Vessel, New Recipes' event on Friday, November 20 and is inviting people nationwide to join to raise money for Bridport Refugee Support Campaign.

Up to 30 people can join the party, with 12 people from the group being able to share their stories. Those attending are being asked to choose a 'vessel' - being a bowl or plate - and make a meal they have never made before. As they eat and chat, they can share their old vessel, new recipe stories.

Participants will be asked to take a photo or draw a picture of their meal for a collective magazine.

This event is a reference to Syrian and other nationality refugees having to travel and flee from their home countries. The idea was devised by Sally Lemsford, co-founder of SEAFAIR, during the Ration Challenge 2020 when she ate the same amount as a refugee receives for a week.

She said: "It was hard enough doing it for one week, very hard to do it with no end in sight. I wanted to do more, understand better and hear stories from refugees first hand."

To apply for tickets, visit www.eventbrite.co.uk and search for 'Old Vessels, New Recipes'. Donations of £5 or above are suggested.
