CORONAVIRUS cases in Dorset have now reached the 6,000 mark after nearly 200 new positive tests were reported in the latest figures.
Data released by the Government show 183 people tested positive in the county in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Saturday (October 31).
In the Dorset Council area, 53 people have tested positive. The total number of coronavirus cases in the area since the beginning of the pandemic now stands at 2,067.
130 cases were reported in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council area. The total number of cases in the area is now 3,991.
Today's recorded cases are an increase of six on the previous day, where 177 positive tests of coronavirus were reported in Dorset yesterday.
The total number of Covid-19 cases across Dorset is now 6,058.
New lockdown measures mean people must stay at home unless for specific reasons, such as attending school or college going to the supermarket or provide care.
Attending medical appointments is also allowed or to escape injury or harm such as for people suffering domestic abuse.
Support bubbles will remain in place and people can still meet up in their bubble. Children can move between the homes of their parents if their parents are separated.
Non-essential shops, leisure and entertainment venues will all be closed while supermarkets and shops that sell essential items can remain open.
Bars, pubs and restaurants must stay closed except for delivery or take-away services. Takeaway alcohol will not be allowed.
