MORE than 150 fresh cases of coronavirus have been reported in Dorset, according to the latest figures.

Data released by the Government show 156 people tested positive in the county in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Monday (November 2).

In the Dorset Council area, 58 people have tested positive. The total number of coronavirus cases in the area since the beginning of the pandemic now stands at 2,125.

98 cases were reported in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council area. The total number of cases in the area is now 3,991.

Today's recorded cases are a decrease of 27 on the previous day, where 183 positive tests of coronavirus were reported in Dorset yesterday (Sunday, November 1). 

The total number of Covid-19 cases across Dorset is now 6,116. 

The latest cases come as five new coronavirus deaths were recorded at the newly-formed University Hospitals Dorset Trust over the weekend.

NHS England figures show 148 people had died in hospital at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust as of 5pm on Sunday (November 1).

That was an increase of five compared to Friday, when there were 143.

The deaths were all reported at the former Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, which merged with The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust on October 1.
