I BELIEVE the idea of an incinerator on Portland should be refused because of the double whammy of pollution from burning other people’s rubbish and the pollution that will be caused to residents on or around Portland Road.
We are told there will be upward of 30 lorries a day making the double journey adding to the massive destructive effects from heavy lorries already causing pollution of diesel fumes on a road that the council acknowledges desperately needs action and a reduction of heavy traffic.
As an asthma sufferer I fail to understand why a council which has made a commitment to action on climate change is going along with this. Only the businessmen with no local connections will benefit financially. We will be left with far higher rates of asthma and a road that needs pothole repairs due to the heavy traffic endlessly costing council tax payers.
