SEVEN Dorset schools have recently confirmed cases of coronavirus.

Muscliff Primary School, the LeAF Academy in Bournemouth and Baden-Powell and St Peter's CE Junior School in Poole all confirmed cases yesterday.

There were also positive cases at Broadstone First School and St James' CE First School in Wimborne, which remains open.

Meanwhile, Pimperne Primary School, based in Pimperne near Blandford Forum, remains open after a person tested positive for Covid-19.

Public Health Dorset noted that the person who tested positive was not in school during their infectious period so there is no requirement for any students or staff to self-isolate.

Sherborne Primary School has also reported cases of coronavirus. The school remains open during this time as affected people self-isolate.

Sam Crowe, Director of Public Health for Dorset and Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Councils, confirmed the cases and said all affected schools are working closely with Public Health Dorset, Dorset Council and Public Health England South West.

He said: “All close contacts of the confirmed cases have been notified and advised to self-isolate for 14 days.

“Contacts of the confirmed cases should get tested if they go on to develop symptoms. Even if people test negative, they must still self-isolate for 14 days.”
