TWO MEN had to be rescued by coastguards after their dinghy washed up on the rocks at Beer Head.
Lyme Regis Coastguard was called out to support Beer Coastguard Rescue Team after reports of two men in a dinghy struggling with the heavy swell.
The two men had taken the dinghy from Beer Beach to go fishing but had quickly been overcome by force six winds and a 1.5 metre swell. Fortunately for them, the wind was on shore and they had been blown towards the beach.
Members of the Lyme Regis Coastguard noted that neither were appropriately dressed, they had no life jackets on board and no means of calling for help.
The coastguard teams arrived on the scene shortly before the two men were washed up on the rocks. Members of both teams were sent down to the beach to assist the men.
Following a medical assessment in which no injuries were discovered, the two men were escorted back to Beer Head.
