THERE has been a huge jump in coronavirus cases in Dorset with 434 people testing positive in 24 hours.

The number of new Covid-19 cases recorded in the Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole Council area (BCP) has reached a record high - with the number nearing 300.

According to the latest government update, there were 296 new coronavirus cases in the BCP area.

The numbers were recorded across the conurbation in the 24 hours prior to 4pm on Saturday, November 14.

In the Dorset Council area 138 cases have been reported during the same period.

The total number of cases in the whole of Dorset is 434 in the last 24-hours.

 5,676 cases have been confirmed in the BCP Council area.

In the Dorset Council area, 2,851 cases have been recorded overall.
