Two more Dorset schools have had confirmed cases of coronavirus.

Hillside First School in Verwood and Colehill First SDDchool in Wimborne each revealed they had confirmed cases of Covid-19 on Friday, November 13.

The person who tested positive linked to Colehill was not in school during their infectious period so there was no requirement for any students or staff to self-isolate.

Both schools remain open and close contacts of the confirmed case at Hillside have been asked to self-isolate for 14 days.

Sam Crowe, Director of Public Health for Dorset and Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Councils said: “We are aware of a confirmed case of Covid-19 at Hillside First School in Verwood. The school is working closely with Public Health Dorset, Dorset Council and Public Health England South West to ensure that all necessary measures are being met.

“All close contacts of the confirmed case have been notified and advised to self-isolate for 14-days. Contacts of the confirmed case should get tested if they go on to develop symptoms. Even if people test negative, they must still self-isolate for 14-days.”

This follows other recent confirmed cases at Westfield Arts College in Weymouth (November 11) and St James’ CE VC First School near Wimborne (November 9). In each of these cases, close contacts were identified and asked to self-isolate for 14 days.

Pimperne Primary School in north Dorset confirmed a case on November 4. However, as the person who tested positive was not in school during their infectious period, there was no requirement for any students or staff to self-isolate.

Sherborne Primary School in Sherborne, also remains open following a confirmed case on November 3, which led to close contacts self-isolating.
