A DRIVER had a lucky escape after his car crashed and overturned on the A35.

As previously reported the road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident yesterday afternoon.

Police, fire and ambulance crews attended the scene.

A spokesman for Bridport Fire Station said: "One appliance from Bridport was mobilised to a single vehicle road traffic collision on the A35 Kingston Russell Junction.

"A further appliance from Dorchester Fire Station was also mobilised. A BMW car had left the road and rolled over.

"The driver freed themselves from the vehicle and was in the care of the ambulance service.

"Police were also on scene and closed the road whilst the scene was cleared and investigation works were completed.

"The roads are quite greasy at the moment and it was also noted on route to the scene oil or diesel had been spilt all along the A35, made worse by the wet conditions.

"Remember to drive to the conditions, be aware of your surroundings and be able to stop within the distance you can see.

"If you have time why not enrol on to #dwfrs road safety teams 4 FREE road safety modules, aligned with the PSHE curriculum for KS3, KS4 and KS5 and related to #covid19 .

"They are online workbooks for students to read through, watch clips and complete short tasks and activities independently. These are perfect for #remotelearning or as an interactive PSHE lesson."
