THE latest Tier Two announcement from the Government has implications on what we can do and where we can travel to.

As announced by Health Secretary Matt Hancock earlier today, from December 2 Dorset will face tougher restrictions post-lockdown.

It means Dorset residents may have to change their travel plans.

According to the government website, people who live in Tier Two should aim to reduce the number of journeys they make "where possible".

If you are from a Tier Two area and you travel to a Tier One area then you  must continue to follow Tier Two rules.

You should avoid travel to, or overnight stays in, Tier Three areas other than where necessary.

Exceptions are made for people traveling due to work, education, youth services, to receive medical treatment, or because of caring responsibilities.

You are able to travel through a Tier Three area as a part of a longer journey.

For international travel, people should check the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office travel advice for their destination.

International travel from England will be restricted except in limited circumstances such as for work or for education until December 2.

University students are also being asked to travel home during a specific time period to minimise the spread of Covid-19.

The Government is asking all university students to travel home between Thursday, December 3 and Wednesday, December 9.

It says that this is to ensure that students are already home by the end of the winter term "but also reduce any transmission risk".
