A SCHOOLGIRL from Weymouth has been getting creative to design dozens of handmade Christmas cards, which will be sold at a pop-up shop to raise funds for the RNLI.

Evie Chambers, aged eight, is showcasing her artistic talents with the festive designs to raise funds for the service. The cause is close to her heart as her dad, Laurence, is a volunteer with the RNLI.

The cards will be sold along with other festive gifts and calendars at the RNLI pop-up shop, which will be opening for one day only at The T Shop, Trinity Street, Weymouth, from 11am to 3pm on Saturday, December 5.

Evie, a pupil at Holy Trinity School, said: “My daddy is a volunteer with the RNLI so I wanted to do something to help them raise money.

“Me and my aunty Jess created lots of cards to sell at the RNLI shop. I’m looking forward to seeing them on sale.”

Evie’s talents have already raised more than £130 with online donations.

Evie’s mum, Jodie, said: “Evie loves being creative, and it was completely her idea to make the cards to help raise funds for the RNLI, which is a really big part of our lives with Laurence being a volunteer.

“They really are fantastic, and I’m really proud of her for doing something to help raise money for such an important service. I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has donated so far.”

People can donate on the RNLI website.
