EMERGENCY services were called to a “sudden death” at university halls in Bournemouth last night.

Police and ambulance attended Oxford Point in Oxford Road at 9pm yesterday, December 4.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “We were called by the ambulance service at 9pm last night for an incident at Oxford Point.

“Police and ambulance attended, sadly there was a report of a sudden death which was confirmed at 9.07pm.

“The family and the coroner have both been notified.”

A spokesperson for Arts University Bournemouth said: "Sadly, we can confirm that one of our students was found deceased in their hall of residence on Friday December 4.

"Our heartfelt thoughts and sympathies are with the student’s family and friends at this very sad time.

"The student's family have been informed and we would ask that their privacy is respected, following this difficult news.

"AUB is working closely with Dorset Police and is continuing to offer wellbeing support to any members of staff and students affected."

A spokesperson for Bournemouth University said: "We are aware of the sad reports of a student death and have offered support to all those involved."
