The Weymouth area is set to have its first Burger King after the fast food giant confirmed plans to open a new branch in the town next year, creating a number of jobs.
Rumours circulated that the fast food chain, which also has branches in Poole and Bournemouth, would be opening a new site in Weymouth after job listings were posted online.
The job roles include a crew member, shift leader and a site manager, with no indication how many roles could be created at the restaurant.
The job advertisements also appeared to suggest the new branch could be based at Link Park estate, Chickerell, but the exact location has not been confirmed by Burger King or site owner, DJ Property.
A spokeswoman for Burger King was able to confirm that a new restaurant will be opening in Weymouth at some point in 2021.
She said: “Burger King are regularly evaluating opportunities to bring our great-tasting products to more customers in new locations.
"We can confirm that there will be a new restaurant opening at this location in 2021 and will keep you informed when more information becomes available.”
Describing themselves as the second largest hamburger chain in the world, Burger King is known for its flame-grilled burgers, famous Whopper burgers, chilli cheese bites, fries and hot drinks to eat in or takeaway.
When open, Burger King will have to compete with Weymouth’s two McDonald’s restaurants and KFC at Jubilee Retail Park for hungry diners’ attention.
Burger King is looking for “happy and friendly” people who can “provide a fantastic customer service experience” as well as help maintain the restaurant.
It is not yet known exactly how many jobs will be created with the launch of the new branch.
The job description of a crew member reads: “As a Burger King crew member, customer service is at the heart of what you do! Being welcoming, friendly and a team player are your most important duties as well as loving our products as much as we do!
“In this role you are can be yourself whilst engaging with our amazing loyal customers, you will also be involved in preparing our signature menu items and we will let you in on the secrets on how our food tastes so good!
“If you love to work in a fast-paced vibrant store, meet new people every day, feel like part of a family and have fun then this role is perfect for you!”
The new restaurant opening is a part of Burger King’s expansion in Dorset, bringing the total number of branches in the county up to five.
