THE Environment Agency has warned “immediate action is required” as flooding is expected in areas around Wareham.
River levels have risen at the Stinsford river gauge after rainfall brought by Storm Bella on Sunday.
A warning on the agency’s website said: “We believe there is a possibility of flooding for areas in East Stoke, Holmebridge, Stoborough, Stoborough Green, Wareham, Redcliffe, Ridge and Swineham.
“Further showery rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours. River levels can rise very quickly in response to heavy rainfall. We are closely monitoring the situation.”
Elsewhere, people in Poole Harbour have been warned to “be prepared” for a flood risk along the harbour and tidal stretches of Lower Frome and River Piddle.
This has been caused by sea levels higher than forecasted.
The agency said: “Please be careful along beaches, promenades and coastal footpaths and roads.”
