ALMOST 300 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Dorset, official figures show.

Latest Government figures indicate a further 298 new positive cases have been confirmed in the county in the last 24-hour period.

This includes 105 new positive cases in the Dorset Council area - bringing the total to 4,447 in this part of the county since the start of the pandemic in March.

In the Dorset Council area the rolling infection rate stands at 123.6 per 100,000 of the population, with 468 cases confirmed in the latest seven-day period.

Meanwhile, in the Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole council area, a further 193 positive cases have been confirmed in the same time period. This brings the total to 9,507 since the start of the pandemic.

In the BCP area the seven day rolling rate stands at 224.4 with 887 new cases having been confirmed in the last seven days.
