A DORSET disability charity is operating its Christmas Treecycling scheme in the new year for those who want to dispose of their tree in exchange for a charity donation.

The scheme, which will run from January 9 until January 11 2021, entails Diverse Abilities' team of volunteers collecting Christmas trees and disposing of them responsibly across BH3 to BH18, and BH21, BH22, BH23 1 - 3, and BH31.

A £10 donation for this service is suggested.

Office manager at Maidmans Moving and Storage, one of the sponsors of the scheme, Jo Swinton said: "For the fourth year running, we will be assisting the Christmas tree recycling scheme in Bournemouth, Poole and the surrounding areas. We provide both drivers and lorries to collect the trees and whilst we are thrilled to assist a fantastic local charity.

"Our drivers welcome a change to their usual day to day removals job."

Keyfort and Waste Management Facilities also sponsor the scheme.

Managing director at Keyfort, Rob Clayton said: "Keyfort is honoured to be working with Diverse Abilities once again this year, contributing to the Treecycling campaign is a great way to help the charity and make its processes easier.

"It really is rewarding for our staff to see their work making a difference in more ways than one."

Christmas tree collections are completely contactless for the bookers – trees are instructed to be left in an accessible place, not obstructing walkways, for the teams of volunteers to collect over the course of the weekend.

Visit diverseabilities.org.uk/trees to register your collection before Monday, January 4 2021.

If you are a bubble with access to a van and are interested in volunteering for the collection rounds, email treecycling@diverseabilities.org.uk for more details.
