OVER 100 homeless people and those in need were supported at Christmas thanks to a Bournemouth-based organisation.

Heart and Soul, founded by Chris Curtis who was formerly homeless, served up a three-course carvery dinner on Christmas Day for those who needed it.

The organisation offered support throughout the festive season despite the challenges posed by coronavirus.

Chris said: "If we can help someone, we will happily do it. We offered a three-course dinner alongside We Are Humans on Christmas Day and on Christmas Eve, eight different organisations came together to distribute items to those in need.

"We gave out a good £1000 worth of presents to people that day."

Heart and Soul was founded by Chris in March 2020 following his time of being homeless.

He said: "I was out there on the streets myself 18 months ago due to my landlord selling his property. I ended up travelling around the South, working with homeless groups.

"When I returned to Bournemouth, I decided to step up with what I was doing. When lockdown started, all the homeless support groups decided they couldn’t do anything and I thought that everybody will still need help. At the end of the day, homeless people need support.

"We don’t discriminate. If someone joins our queue we’ll help them. They don’t have to be homeless to get help."

Heart and Soul has a 'careline' number for those in need.
